Medco Medicare Prescription Plan®(PDP)

Medco Medicare Prescription Plan®is a Medicare prescription drug plan that is available nationwide and in Puerto Rico. When you enroll in Medco Medicare Prescription Plan, you get access to:

  • Over 3,300 affordable brand-name and generic prescription drugs
  • Service from a company that has 25 years of experience serving the prescription benefit needs of millions of people, including seniors just like you
  • Pharmacists, available anytime of the day or night, who are specially trained to look for potential problems that can arise with older patients - especially those with complex prescription regimens
  • More than 55,000 retail network pharmacies
  • Convenient and safe mail-order delivery with free standard shipping through Mail-Order Pharmacy
  • Safety checks to help prevent possible drug interactions

If you have Medicare and full Medicaid coverage: The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) automatically enrolls you in a Medicare prescription drug plan each year if you meet the following criteria:

  • You are a full-benefit dual eligible (meaning you qualified for Medicare and Medicaid support), a Medicare Savings Program participant, a Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipient; OR you applied for low-income subsidy help and were found eligible.
  • You were previously automatically enrolled in a Medicare prescription drug plan, and you continue to be eligible for low-income subsidy help in 2008.
  • You or your authorized representative did not voluntarily elect to enroll in another prescription drug plan.
  • Your current prescription drug plan has a premium in 2009 that is above the minimum amount required by CMS, or your Medicare prescription drug plan is terminating at the end of 2008.

If you were automatically enrolled in a plan other than the Medco Medicare Prescription Plan, you are allowed to switch to the Medco Plan if you choose to, but you will be responsible to pay any additional costs.

Please note that if you currently have prescription coverage through another plan, you may not need to join Medco Medicare Prescription Plan. You should speak to a representative who handles your current prescription benefit before making the decision to enroll. You cannot enroll in this program if your current or former employer helps you pay for your drugs.
